Where food & wine meet culture and lifestyle

The terrace of Osteria Caronte overlooks the river and it’s only a few kilometers from Dolo, heart of the Riviera del Brenta. This land was a Venetian patricians favourite holiday resort between 1500 and 1700. It is right on the banks of the Brenta Canal, ideal progression of the Canal Grande, that the famous villas overlook. Designed and frescoed by the masters of Italian arts, they characterize the landscape, in perfect harmony with architecture and nature. With its romantic and suspended atmosphere, the Riviera has kept an intact charm. Delicious flavours in this special context of water-flowing and breezy woods come out of the tavern kitchen.

These are the flavours of the most typical Veneto cuisine: from “bigoli in salsa di acciughe” (typical pasta in anchovy sauce) to “cappellacci al branzino” (typical pasta with seabass) or “frittura mista di laguna” (mixed lagoon fried fish) and “baccalà” (dried cod) in all their different varieties. Bread, pasta and cakes are homemade. Queen of the kitchen Mariagrazia Levorato, who, with her husband Roberto Minchio has been able to keep intact the allure of an old country tavern. The structure has an oak-beamed ceiling and a big fireplace that heats the room. In the summertime, the beautiful terrace on the river is the perfect place in order to come into contact with the Genius Loci of this beautiful land. In the cellar: about a hundred excellent wine labels, particularly the ones of the Tre Venezie land.
